- Why
Kid Castle? - Social Support
Living and working in a foreign culture can be
a fascinating and rewarding experience. For it to be so however,
you will need to do things outside of the school. We prefer not
to hire teachers whose sole interest in coming overseas is to make
money. Sure it is possible to work 12 hours a day and save fabulous
amounts of money, but you will miss out on so much. A very large
percentage of negative posts found on the web come from this kind
of person.
So the question is what to do. There really is
lot, from learning Chinese, learning t'ai chi, rock climbing, hiking,
mountain biking, frisbee ultimate, surfing, football, Gaelic football...
the list goes on.
After you have been in the country for a while,
you will have your own group of friends and learn about these clubs,
but before that we have an extensive network of contacts who can
help you find what you are looking for. If it doesn't exist, we
can also help you set it up!
On arrival you will also receive our trusty survival
guide packed with useful and not so useful (but fun) facts. This
guide regularly receives good reviews from its readers. And yes,
those hand sized spiders really do move faster than you think.
There are also voluntary social events that go
on throughout the year, including tennis competitions, barbecues,
trips or just hanging out at a local watering hole.
Other possibilities include getting involved with
our newsletter and helping out with development of our teacher's
website.
Come to think of it, anything is possible.
